PERSONAL STATEMENT

Licia Battarra has loved drawing and painting since she was a child. At the age of 14 she started taking art seriously, and decided to enrol in the Art School in Bologna (her hometown). After high school, she studied to become a fine art restorer. Later, she obtained a degree, with a dissertation on Love and Beauty in Plato’s Symposium. Since then, she has never stopped learning and developing her painting style. Her training has been mostly self-taught, following a rigorous personal plan of study based on life drawing in order to improve her skills and reach a professional level of expertise. She has  been mostly influenced by old masters  of Venetian and Dutch Schools, and above all by
Turner and the magical mood that pervades all his paintings.
She has  been a professional painter and fine art restorer for more than ten years.
As an art restorer she has restored prestigious works of art, and as an artist she has won five prizes apart from exhibiting in countless exhibitions both in Italy and abroad.
